Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited plans to site a $35 billion gas-gasoline
plant in Akwa Ibom State. Governor Godswill Akpabio who was responding
to a welcome address by the President of Akwa Ibom Community in Rivers
State said the plant would be complete with harbour.
He assured that his
administration would provide a space for the company at the coastal area.
As part of plans to revitalize the economy of the state, he said his
administration would improve the tourism and housing sectors particularly
building of luxury apartments in the housing estate to attract more
investors.
Chief Akpabio pledged his administration’s
determination to bring about positive changes in the governance to improve
the lots of the citizenry.
The state Chief Executive who appreciated them for helping in the
development of the state economy appealed to them to invest at home as
government will provide them the enabling environment.
On the request for the building of Ibom Unity Hall in Rivers State, the
governor pledged to assist in building the project to cater for the
interest of more than one million Akwa Ibom indigenes resident in Rivers
state.
The President of the community, Dr. Edet Essien commended the governor
for his open-mindedness and fairness to all tribes in the state and for
the massive roads projects and other infrastructural development,
advising him to remain focused in the face of petitions and other
distractions.
Dr. Essien hinted of the community’s plans to acquire land costing
N15million to build Ibom Unity Hall in Port Harcourt and requested for
government’s assistance in his direction.
The president also called on the government to appoint some of their
members into some sensitive positions in the state, established Liaison
office in Port Harcourt and sponsor some of them to the Holy land for
pilgrimage.
