AKPABIO, AKWA IBOM GOVERNOR WANTS POLITICIANS TO CLOSE RANK
Nigerians have been advised to work towards the
sustenance of the Nations democracy irrespective of
their political affiliation.
The Akwa Ibom State Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio
gave the advise Friday when he received a delegation
of National and State officers of the conference of
Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) led by the secretary
Chief Eliezulu who paid him a courtesy visit.
Chief Akpabio who maintained that democracy is the
best form of government called on politicians to work
together as brothers and sisters inorder to more the
Nation forward.
“His words, A worst democracy is better than the best
military regime because there is freedom of speech
movement and rapid economic development”.
The governor who is of the opinion that the essence of
going into politics is to contribute positively to
Nation building reaffirmed his administration’s
commitment to deliver more dividends of democracy to
the people of the state.
Governor Akpabio who admitted that criticism
encourages government at all levels to sit up and
conduct the affairs of the state according to due
process and the rule of law however advised such
critics to be constructive in their criticism inorder
not to destroy the Nation.
“Each time we are criticized or petitioned against it
causes us to sit up and do things according to due
process. In opposition we must be constructive, we
must oppose to build and not to destroy”. He stated.
He lauded the principles of checks and balances in
government which makes for prudent management of funds
by public office holders.
He extended a hand of friendship to other political
parties in the state to join in the building of Akwa
Ibom State.
Earlier, the National Secretary of the conference of
Nigerian Political Parties (CNPP) Chief Eliezulu said
he was in Akwa Ibom to inaugurate the state chapter of
the body.
Chief Eliezulu said the objective of the organization
is to contribute its quota to the survival of
democracy in the country.
The National Secretary lauded the giant strides of the
present administration at enhancing the wellbeing of
the people of Akwa Ibom State.
He stressed the need for public and political office
holders to follow due process and the role of law in
their day to-day administration inorder to have a
vibrant economy.
Chief Eliezulu appealed to governor Akpabio to carry
members of other political parties along in his
administration.
