CNPP BLASTS PDP OVER OGBULAFOR'S 60 YEAR RANT
The Conference of Nigeria Political parties (CNPP), has described statement by the leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), that it would rule Nigeria for 60 years, as a threat to national security, and survival of the country's democracy.
The chairman of the party, Vincent Ogbulafor, made the statement last week. This is the second controversial statement he has made in a month. Few weeks ago Ogbulafor said he was 110% loyal to President Muse Yar'Adua.
While condemning the apparent call for a one party state, the CNPP said it didnt come as surprise as Ogbulafor didnt emerge as chairman through democratic means.
The position was contained in a statement signed by the CNPP's spokesman, Osita Okechukwu.
According to the coalition, the sloganeering by the ruling party about electoral reform, due process, and rule of law were mere deceptions.
The CNPP then concluded that such move to be in power for 60 years would only result in misery, corruption, and underdevelopment, as obtained in other dictatorships in Africa.
