ICPC TO INTERROGATE AKALA'S AIDES OVER CONTRACT SCAM
Special Adviser {Public Communication} to Oyo State
Governor, Mr Dotun Oyelade and top management staff of
the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State {BCOS} will
be quizzed next Wednesday by the operatives of
Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related
Offences Commission {ICPC} in Abuja over alleged scam
in the handling of contracts in the media outfit.
The Nigerian Tribune gathered from a very reliable
source within the commission that summons to appear
before at the commission in Abuja had been dispatched
to the affected persons.
The commission is investigating, among other issues,
an alleged N9 million contract saga in the
establishment of a cyber café, which had not taken
off.
Our correspondent gathered that the investigation was
triggered by petitions alleging fraud in the finances
of the BCOS between June and October 2007 when Oyelade
was calling the shots in the station.
The petitioners are asking the anti-corruption agency
to find out whether about N12 million allegedly
realised from a deal between the BCOS and Multichoice,
which was facilitated by Oyelade, followed due
process.
They also wanted the commission to look into the award
of contract for the installation of two transmitters
for earth stations of the BCOS during the period.
