OIC Donates Sophisticated Ambulance to Akure Community  

A Baltimore, Maryland, U.S. based socio-cultural civil society Oyemekun International Club (O.I.C.) group has purchased a highly equipped ambulance to the people of the ancient city of Akure, capital of Ondo State Nigeria.

According to the President of the group, Mr. Kehinde Owolabi the gift of the ambulance to the community was done pro bono et publico (for the good of the public).  

Mr. Owolabi said that the purchase and the equipment of the state of-the-art vehicle was at a cost of forty thousand dollars (about ₦ 4m).

Although the donation of the vehicle is expected to be done in February, 2009, Mr. Owolabi said that it would be part of the events marking the on-going Oyemekun Festival 2008.  

The Chairman of the Oyemekun Festival ’08 Committee, Dr. Adefemi Adekanye said that the community has received the news of the donation and “everybody is happy about it.”  

He said that “interested individuals should visit Oyemekun Festival.org to see what can be done to assist the city.
