LAMIDO’S ANTI-CORRUPTION WAR SUFFERS SETBACK

The effort of the Jigawa state governor, Alhaji Sule Lamido towards ensuring transparency and accountability in his administration and local government in particular has suffer a serious setback in Kirikassam local government council.

Despite the governor’s effort to restructure the financial activities in the state an agency title due process had been establish to monitor all the awarding, execution and payment of contracts in the state and local government councils.

Another effort of sabotage to the Governor Lamido’s government by the Kirikassama local government council, Alhaji Abba Mohd Daguro is awarding hundreds million naira contracts to his biological father, Alhaji Mohd Dagoro which includes a ten kilometers feeder road from Kirikasamma to Matara at the cost of over N51 million and the renovation of the local government secretariat at the sum of over N70 million.

Alhaji Abba also awarded over N53 million motorize water station of five villages, each of the four at over N9 million while the fifth one at over N13 million respectively.

Visiting the road project side and the local government secretariat by a team of journalists who were on tour assessment has learned that the road is of less quality while in the local government secretariat sub-standard material is been using in a very slow movement of the work.

During the visiting journalists only saw two laborers working at the gate of the secretariat and three other laborers in the mosque of premises destroying some parts of the buildings. According one Sandare Mammada Tarabu who said he was in the Kirikasamma local government headquarter to attend the market said “this Man (referring to the council chairman) is very selfish, because any project amounting to N3 million is handling by his farther”.

Malam Sandare Mammada Tarabu maintained that “I personally blame Sule Lamido who enforce him to us and allowing him to do what ever he want with out fair been may be he is sending return to him”, he added that I’m an O level certificate holder which we very few in our village who has the zeal to move the area indicated an interest to contested some position but we were blocked because we have no god fathers”.
