LAMIDO WARNS LG CHAIRMAN OVER ILLEGAL FUNDS WITHDRAWAL

The Jigawa state governor, Sule Lamido has served a strong warning letter to the chairman local government council area Alhaji Jamilu Shehu Mujaddadi for over drawing the account of the council with out government approval which contravened section 6.10 of the local government operational guide lines of the state which prohibits any council from collecting loan.

The state commissioner for local government Alhaji Nasiru Umar who briefed Journalists, on the out come of the emergency meeting, Governor Lamido held with all the 27 local councils chairmen recently, said the action of the government was based on recommendation made by the committee set up to investigate the case of over drawing the account of the local government by the embattle chairman.

“After the committees submits its report, government has approved that the chairman of the local government be served with a strong warning letter to leave up to expectation in the discharge of his duties as the chief executive of the local government .” the commissioner pointed out.

Accordingly, Governor Lamido has also approved the immediate retirement of the former treasurer of the council Alhaji Ibrahim Usman for his in ability to advised the local government in financial dealings, while the Director personnel management by the local government Alhaji Muhammad Haruna Danzomo who retired on G.L 16 as head of service of the local government , be reverted to G.L.15 thus loosing such privilege attached to senior local government staff that is DPM who could be nominated to retire on G.L 16 based on their contribution on successful 35 years service to the local government administration.

Commissioner Roni disclosed that in view of the role played by the Director planning, Research and Statistics (DPRS) Alhaji Aminu Muhammad Ringim for resistance to violating section 6.10 of the local government operational guide lines and strict compliance to the contents of the circular No MLG / INSP/ FIN/S.I/V.1/23 of 23/9/2007 government recommended for serving the officer with a commendation letter for his action.

It was gathered that the embattled chairman of Hadejia local government, Alhaji Jamilu Shehu Mujaddadi has overdrawn the sum of N20m from commercial banks without governmnet approval and he was equally involved in alleged N68m scam belonging to the council which he claims to have executed projects with but when a committe from the state House of assembly on projects visited his council cannot even locate a drainage he claimed to have constructed or any projects worth N10m. 

Alhaji Nasiru Umar said local government should ensure strict maintenance of all water facilities , electrification projects, and constants watering of tress planted adding that all tractors purchased should be used for this purpose .

He added that local government council were directed to collaborate with SUBEB to ensure budgetary provisions has been made in the 2009  budget for general renovation and furnishing of primary and junior secondary schools in their areas . “ This is very compulsory,” he explained

It was further directed according to the commissioner, all completed projects and other contracts awarded by all local councils must to be settled before the end of the year , but capital projects not completed should be rolled to next financial year as ongoing and adequate provision should be made in the 2009 budget.

Alhaji Nasiru Umar explained further that , as financial comes to an end, all books of accounts must to be put up to date for end of the year Auditing  by the Auditor general Local Government Audit for forwarding to the state house of assembly
