Akwa Ibom indigenes in the Diaspora have been tasked to contribute their
quota to the overall development of the state even as the state chief
executive has assured that all monies accruing to the state would be
judiciously spent for the benefit of its citizens.
The state governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio made the call Thursday when he
received a delegation of Akwa Ibom state community (AKISCOM) Lagos led by
its President, Elder Etesin Williamson Essien who paid him a courtesy
visit.
Governor Akpabio enjoined them to always remember home by attracting basic
infrastructure to the state.
Chief Akpabio assured Akwa Ibom people that tax payers money would be
judiciously spent on projects that would enhance the well being of the
people of the state.
Presenting his score card to the state community in Lagos, the governor
said his administration in the past one year has successfully translated
the vision of government into reality as evidenced by the number of
projects executed and commissioned in the last 365 days.
The state chief executive who is of the opinion that provision of
development projects should not be limited to a particular sector of the
state maintained that the present administration under his leadership
would ensure equity in provision of basic infrastructure to give all
sectors of the state that sense of belonging.
The governor explained that the dissolution of the executive council which
is temporary should enable him put square peck in a square hole for
increase work performance.
Chief Akpabio who lauded the performance of some of the state executive
council members said more than 95% of them would be back when the exco
would be re constituted.
“I have a lot of confidence in most members of the executive council and I
give them kudos, more than 95% of the cabinet members would be back” he
assured.
He acknowledged the support of the Lagos community during his
electioneering campaign assuring that he will not betray the confidence
reposed in him by the generality of the people of the state.
Earlier, the president of Akwa Ibom State community (AKISCOM) Lagos, Elder
Etesin Williamson Essien lauded the giant strides of the Akpabio led
administration in the last one year and encouraged him to continue to do
more to enhance the living standard of the people of the state.
Elder Essien called on governor Akpabio to reconcile all political
factions in order to create a peaceful political environment for a fertile
ground for the overall development of the state.
The President said the Akwa Ibom community had purchased a plot of land
for the construction of a restaurant to showcase the state’s rich cuisine
and appealed for assistance to enable them complete the project.
He intimated the governor of the association’s plan to officially receive
him in November this year in Lagos and requested his presence at the
event.
