James Ibori |
During the infamous James Onanefe Ibori, administration in Delta state, there were two very influential figures who acted as foot soldiers for the massive looting perpetrated by Ibori. They were Emmanuel Uduaghan, and Agbe Utuama. The former was Secretary to the state Government, while the latter was Attorney General and Justice Commissioner. Today, Uduaghan is Governor, and Utuama his deputy.
Recall that recently Uduaghan said several contractors absconded with over N4 billion state money. He promised to haunt down the ghost contactors and get Delta’s money. But records at Zenith Bank Asaba, say something else.
It has been revealed that the opened a slush fund account with number 602901256. The sole signatory was then Justice Commissioner, now Deputy Governor, Agbe Utuama. Through that account, millions were paid to legal heavy weights, business men, cronies, and relatives. The purpose of the tons of millions paid to these top lawyers and justices could not be ascertained, but it looks like the trio was preparing grounds for any legal tussle in future concerning stolen funds. This explains the lull in the trial of Ibori.
