Boko Haram: Cleric commends Jonathan’s approach
The President of The Muslim Congress (TMC) of Nigeria, Alhaji Lukman Abdulraheem, on Saturday said that President Goodluck Jonathan was handling the Boko Haram issue with care.
In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos, Abdulraheem said that wisdom required that a leader should not be hasty in handling such an issue.
He said that a leader should be careful in his actions and speech.
“It is expected that the President takes time to study the dynamism of the present terrorism as the motive of terrorists around the world differs,’’ he said.
The cleric added that hasty steps could do more harm than good in a heterogeneous state such as Nigeria.
He called for the support of all Nigerians to Jonathan’s administration to enable him to succeed, saying that acts of sabotage would hinder the nation’s progress.
Abdulraheem urged opposition parties to cooperate with the ruling party for the growth of the country.
``Chief Obafemi Awolowo was defeated in an election and formed opposition, but can anyone forget his great impact,’’ he recalled.
He urged Nigerians to do away with sentiments and destructive criticisms but provide relevant information and support for the present administration to succeed.
“Let the opposition parties bring out the blue print of their political and intellectual ideas that can best yield the dividends of democracy and fight terrorism,”. Abdulraheem said.
