Support Jonathan's reform programme, lawmaker urges Nigerians

Nigerians have been called upon to support the ongoing Federal Government reform programme to ensure rapid socio-political growth.

Alhaji Ibrahim Kabiru (PDP) member of the Sokoto State House of Assembly, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto on Monday that the reform agenda would ensure total transformation of the country.

He said that time had come for Nigerians to unite and support the agenda for peace, progress and political stability.

The lawmaker expressed delight with the reforms in the transport sector, especially the ongoing dredging of River Niger, railway rehabilitation and re-construction of federal roads across the country.

"Unemployed Nigerians will be gainfully employed and contribute positively towards the nation development," he said.

Kabiru, who is representing Kware constituency, also called on Nigerians to shun political party differences and support the present administration in its resolve to improve on living condition of Nigerians.

" We have never had it so good until the coming of the Jonathan administration, especially the availability of petroleum products in every nook and cranny which have direct impact on the lives of the ordinary man," he said

Meanwhile, Gov Aliyu Wamakko of Sokoto has been predicted to emerge victorious as the PDP candidate in the forthcoming governorship primary scheduled to take place early next year.

Malam Nasir Zarummai, Special Adviser ICT to Gov Aliyu Wamakko who made the prediction, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sokoto that the electorate were not yearning for political change.

He said that tremendous achievement recorded by Wamakko in all fields spoke for itself.

" We are not clamouring for a change of leadership as we are very much comfortable with qualitative leadership by our dynamic Gov Wamakko.

" We are ready to face the electorate anytime anyday as we have been with them all this while,’’ he said.

Zarumai expressed optimism that Wamakko would win the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the state.

He called on party supporters to continue to live in peace with one another for peace and political stability.

" As democrats we must be seen to be exhibiting high sense of political maturity in promoting the lofty ideals of our party " he said.
