Armed robbers ambush police patrol vehicle

Four police officers were on Saturday shot and injured by suspected robbers who ambushed them on the Shao – Jebba Road in Moro Local Government Area of Kwara.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Ezekiel Dabo told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in an interview on Monday in Ilorin that the four officers injured were still recuperating at University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (UITH).

According to him, the police patrol vehicle with six police officers were on their way to respond to a distress call in the early hours of Saturday when they were attacked by the hoodlums.

Dabo said the patrol team were informed that armed robbers were operating along Bode-Saadu road at about 3.45 a.m, not knowing that the armed robbers had laid ambush for them.

According to him, no arrests have been made till now, but added the command is still investigating the incident.

Officers affected were ASP Adah Salami, Rahaman Rasheed, Sulaiman Abdullahi, Bashir Ademola all of the G Division Oko Olowo in Ilorin.
