Ndaguba, veteran broadcaster dies at 76
Chief Ikenna Ndaguba, a
veteran broadcaster and former Executive Director of the Federal Radio
Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), died on Sunday in Abuja, according to a statement
by his family.
The statement, signed by Mr Okey Ndaguba, a son of the deceased on behalf of
the family, disclosed that Ndaguba was aged 76.
Ndaguba died at a private hospital after some illness.
It said the late broadcaster was survived by a wife, Mrs Carol Ndaguba, the
former Executive Secretary of the National Agency for the Prohibition of
Trafficking in Persons and Other Related Matters (NAPTIP), four children and six
grand children.
``The burial arrangement will be announced in due course.’’
Meanwhile, Nigerians have continued to pay tributes and condolences to the
family.
Dr Nnena Orji, the Chairman Investment and Security Tribunal, who was among
the early visitors to the family house, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN),
at the compound that the death was a big loss to the country.
``He was a mentor that most of us looked up to.’’
Mrs Thelma Iremiren, a National Commissioner of INEC, also told NAN that the
deceased was a man with good sense of humour, whose memory would continue to
live with the family, friends and Nigerians.
Iremiren said the deceased lived a good live and left a good family
behind.
``We all miss him because there was never a dull moment with him, he was
larger than life but when the time comes what do we do? We have to succumb to
the will of God.’’
She, however, advised the family to appreciate God for the life well spent,
adding that Nigerians should also pray for the family members to have the
courage to bear the loss.
Mr Charles Ojugbana, a close family friend of the deceased described him as a
mature and great communicator, ``an amiable personality and a dedicated husband
who loved his family''. (NAN) |
