As controversy rages over Gov. Orji’s son alleged brawl with soldiers, top comedian, Uche Ogbuagu has been caught in the crossfire.

Spectators at the glo laffta fest held at Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, Abia State on Sunday, 4 th  September, yearned to watch their star comedian, Uche Ogbuagu to no avail. In fact, his was the missing link in the event which is sponsored by glo, one of the foremost service providers.

Investigations revealed that Ogbuagu’s absence is not unconnected with a radio comic show, ‘Nkemere Last’, anchored by the comedian at Radio  Nigeria, Heartland 103.5 FM, Owerri, Imo state.

During the show, Ogbuagu had responded to text message by one of the callers demanding comments on the alleged brawl between the son of  Abia  State Governor, Engr. Chinedu Orji and soldiers.

A source close to the comedian confided in our correspondent that the comedian debunked the issue, describing it as a rumour.

Ogbuagu’s comments, we learnt, did not augur well with Gov. Theodore Orji, who was said to have called the comedian pointing to his comments during the program.

The source further hinted that Ogbuagu sent couple of text messages to the governor, trying to explain things to him, but the Abia Chief Executive would  not let go the matter. In one of the text messages, we reliably gathered that Ogbuagu promised to replay the cassette.

This, we learnt cost his appearance in the show, even when his face had graced adverts placed in national dailies by glo.

It was also gathered that when the comedian called to demand explanation from the communication giants why he was dropped from performing in the show, he was told that it was on the instance of the Abia Governor, who demanded from glo the comedians that would perform and Ogbuagu’s name was mentioned.

The situation has made the once robust relationship between the star comedian and Gov. Theodore Orji to go sore.

A source noted the comedian is visibly worried on the turn of event and why comments he made debunking a rumour should be taken that far by His Excellency.

“His Excellency should not forget in a hurry that Ogbuagu’s jingles also contributed to his electoral victories both in the present and past dispensations” the source remarked.
