Ondo Govt. Plans To Bomb Mimiko House

Ondo Govt. Plans To Bomb Mimiko House

Olusegun Agagu

The Ondo State Chapter of the Labour Party (LP) has raised an alarm over fresh plots by the Dr Olusegun Agagu-led government in the State to attack its gubernatorial candidate in the April 14 election in the State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko by launching a commando-like attack on his residence with bomb and other incendiaries under the cover of darkness. This, LP disclosed, was to be done with a view to destroying vital documents that are fundamental to the prosecution of Mimiko’s petition at the Electoral Petition Tribunal sitting in Akure.

In a release issued by the LP’s Director of Press, Mr. Kolawole Olabisi, the party disclosed that the plan to carry out this dastardly act which was borne out of the fact that imminent defeat now stares the PDP in the face at the Tribunal following several landmark rulings by the Tribunal was hatched last weekend at a meeting held at Ore in Odigbo local government area of the State.

According to the LP, at the meeting which was chaired by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, Chief Segun Adegoke and Mr. Femi Johnson Jila, a Personal Assistant to the Governor with several groups and individuals including the Agagu Youth Vanguard (AYV), and the Defender of Democracy (DOD), two of the notorious groups noted for carrying out Agagu’s hatchet jobs,  it was agreed that the attacked on Dr Mimiko house and that of  Dr Abbas Mimiko (his younger brother’s) were to be attacked simultaneously under the cover of darkness with a view to destroying these vital documents. Both houses are located at Mimiko Street, in Ondo town.

Dr. Mimiko, former Housing & Urban Development Minister who resigned his appointment in December last year to contest the April 14 governorship election in the State had protested the result of the election insisting that he won before the election results were rigged in favour of Agagu and subsequently took his case to the Tribunal for justice.

According to Olabisi:“We want the whole world to be aware that Agagu and his henchmen are at it again. In the last couple of days, strange people have been seen lurking around the residence of our flag bearer, Dr Mimiko and his younger brother in strange tinted vehicles. Indeed, Dr. Mimiko has become a prisoner in his own house. He can no longer move freely and we have this security report that his house is to be bombed while vital documents would be destroyed or stolen by agents of government.

“As we have told the whole world in the past of numerous efforts by Agagu and his minions to cause
violence and pin it on us; of plans to eliminate our leaders and intimidate members of the Tribunal while surreptitiously pinning it on us at the labour Party; of plans to eliminate our legal team, all which came true; we want the whole world to be aware of this latest plan being spearheaded by Chief Segun Adegoke, a man who has a personal axe to grind with Dr Mimiko as elucidated by his numerous, spurious but baseless attacks on the person of Dr Mimiko in several paid advertisements and media interviews in recent times.“On our part, as a law abiding party and responsible citizens, we have informed the law enforcement agencies in Ondo State including the Commissioner of Police and the Director of the State Security Service (SSS) of this latest antics of the dying government of Dr Agagu to perpetrate violence on the lives of innocent people whose only sin was to seek justice for a mandate that was stolen in broad day light,” Olabisi Stated.

LP while restating its confidence in the Tribunal to do justice enjoined the Agagu-led PDP in the State to
thread the path of peace and allow the Tribunal to do its job. “Since Agagu has taken it upon himself to
tell whoever cares to listen that that he won the election without saying HOW he won, he should allow
the Tribunal do its job of unraveling the truth of how the election in the State was won and lost rather than cutting corners and heaping unwarranted invectives on innocent people in his desperate bid to explain away Why he won,” Olabisi added.
