The on-going genocide in Darfur was a front burner during last night U.S Democratic Party Presidential debate. Darfur was a clear point of divergent for all participating debaters. While Senator Joseph Biden wanted a decisive military solution that would lead to complete isolation of the regime in Khartoum and its janjaweeds protégé through a UN security council approved No Flying Zone, Senator John Edwards wanted an uncomplicated political solution.
An obvious disappointment on the issue of Darfur was the lackluster, neither-here-no-there position of Senator Barack Obama who seems to be having an impersonal attitude over the unwarranted death being visited on black Africans of Sudan.
But Senator Biden was very apt when he stated “we must act now. I guarantee you that we have the capacity by setting up the no fly zone and shut down the janjaweeds.”
