MARY ISHAYA: VERSATILE COMPETENT INFORMATION EXPERT

Ms. Mary Ishaya

For an individual to be successful in the field of information dissemination and ascribed the professional name expert, the citizen, that person must be really talented and versatile.

So is the story of Ms. Mary Ishaya, information Officer, Bwari Area Council, in the Federal Capital Territory. She is a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, an Igede, by ethnic conglomeration and configuration, Bassa Local Government Area in Plateau.

For six months now, I have visited Bwari Area Council having officially done some consultancy services in the field of publicity syndication and placement for Nigerian Law School, Bwari and Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Bwari respectively.

On my encounter with this citizen Ms Mary Ishaya, the information Officer, Bwari Area Council, a graduate of English Language from university of Jos; 1991. She is a resourceful material for development. First the key points of her versatility and  amenability expertise I have noticed is her multilingual stance as she speaks English Language, Hausa, Abagyi, French and Igede her mother tongue fluently and eloquently.

She is affable, amendable, can meet and interact freely without fear and without inferiority complex. In the field of journalism, if one is to succeed, he must be learned enough, deep in knowledge, can write, read and speak very well. One must know his onions of interacting efficiently, effectively, proficiently to gather information, ideas and Marshal Point that are reasonable and meaningful.

To this end in similar public relations, whereby the expert must have traits of partnership, persevering and enduring and above all, hot- fearing. For instance, during the recent visit of the Honourable Minster of State for the Federal Capital Territory, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe to the council Area dated Thursday 20 th September 2007, Ms Mary Ishaya, the information Officer Bwari Area Council, was able to show the stuff she is made of, when she was able to interpret some of the speeches of Honourable Minister of State at same of the various points and stop, he visited.

At another time, she stood in one of the chief master of ceremony introducing and acknowledging dignitaries at different ceremonies, the recent being some of the dignitaries in the entourage of the ministers or members of the executive council on the ground, or explaining some remark that seemed hard to understand.

Honestly her versatile is visible, vibrant and vivacious. The pamphlets, calendars and brochures she has churned out activities and achievements of her boss are theme to read for her indefatigability, indomitability and irrepressibility acceptable. She has a strong will and does her duties with courage of a lion.

Her finesse is sound and she is God fearing, compassionate, kind, helpful, assistful and down to earth. She is an instrument of development, a future leader, a light for the women.

Additionally, she is up to date and in touch with several newspapers and magazines, state owned, private owned and federal government owned that include New Nigeria, New Agency of Nigeria, Daily Times etc. she is conversant with the website, internet, information technology are monitors consistently insistently Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, voice of Nigeria, Nigerian Television Authority, African Independent Television, DBN, Channels TV and other motley media tabloids and channels.

The African Queen is a woman of substance and a doyen of an individual, who is supportive and has a high moral standing and principle. She encourages and motivates her unit staff who are twelve (12) in the number, who are always on research, facts findings, reading, writing, dubbing a cassette, listen to audio cassette, transcribing a video or audio cassette, gathering numbers of executed projects renovated, project rehabilitate or on- going projects.

She has the required knowledge and vision and has open and to visiting journalists, pressures and consultants and have never humiliated and turned down ignobly any pressman looking for confirmation of matter.

Infact, one journalist conferred and confirmed to this author that she ,Ms Mary Ishaya at other times took some for lunch or carried the burden of finding their vehicles in the course of their official duties.

Mary Ishaya is a material for growth, development, progress and prosperity. She is a detribalized Nigerian ; very urbane vast in cross view discussions; respected by he workers; juniors, admired by colleagues, adored by her superiors and has a good working relationship with everyone, including guests, visitors, officials who are in the secretariat for one reason or the other. Today, Nigeria has come forward and women are taking over as commanders in most affairs, as they are more transparent, more determines, totally wholesome in action and sincerely trust worthy in their transaction.

Therefore, it is in good live of her exemplary role that this column decided to feature her.

Women are taking over burden in the banking industry, finance, accounting, law, stock broking, medicine, pharmacy, urban planning and surveying, Estate Management, electrical- electronics, nursing, aeronautics and many other professional careers. If a woman like this Ms Mary Ishaya, information Officer Bwari Area Council has vindicated herself, then she needs commendation from all citizenry. Mary Ishaya is a star; her future is bright and a lot is head of her. Who knows, where her next challenging assignment is.
