Sir:

President Jonathan, listen to Femi and Olabayo

Power is said to be transient, even life itself is. If there is any interview which President Jonathan must not ignore, it is the interview that Primate Olabayo of the Evangelical Church or Yaweh published in Sunday Sun of July 18, 2010 on page 10. If there is any write up in form of advice which Jonathan must not ignore; it is the one written by Femi Adesina entitled “Jonathan’s untold story” published back page of Daily Sun of Friday July 23, 2010.

If after reading and digesting the two vital and truthful hints contained therein the references and Jonathan still carries on with the idea of seizing the opportunity of his position to seek nomination for the 2011 presidential election, then something may be wrong. God cannot come down to carry out our biddings or give us information that would lead us alright; He does so through people you might not even think of.

I also remember vividly when Chris Amanpour of CNN interviewed President Jonathan whether he would contest the 2011 presidential elections; his reply was not direct but he mentioned that so many options are there for him. He submitted that nothing stops him from being a vice-president again even after a substantive President. Let us not forget the former President De Clerk of South Africa, who became vice to President Mandela; also to be remembered is Israeli Prime Minister Natayahu who being Prime Minister, condescended to be a cabinet Minister and now back as Prime Minister. Jonathan can accept to be a vice-president after 2011 and by 2015 nobody would stop him from being President again for another eight years. He would have been well-grounded. This might be what Primate Olabayo was trying to say in the Sunday Sun interview.

It is spiritually better to respect the gentleman’s agreement by acceding to completion of the rotational two-term presidency arrangement. If he fails to, there would be no justification for any first term governor to return based on the rotation in their respective State.
