Corruption is a serious problem and has become part and parcel of
Nigerians but it is very sad to know that this terrible sickness has
indeed given our country Nigeria a bad name and image. But I believe in
our country and all her citizens and know for sure that we all will join
hands to eradicate this terrible disease before it shadows us all. This
fight is a big one and can not be won by an individual, but by collective
means. We are called upon to join anti-graft agencies to help combat
corruption.
The EFCC is at its best in the fight against corruption. The fight against
corruption is at the centre of our governance challenge as a country.
Though recently the EFCC have been attacked in various ways but the EFCC
chairman Mrs Farida Waziri, has promised not to shrink away from such an
important responsibility because of threats by the very people whose
conduct has inflicted unimaginable damage on the economy and avoidable
poverty on our people at large.
She, therefore, called on Nigerians to speak out against this dangerous
development which, if not addressed, will generate into a much wider
problem and signal a situation of hopelessness and lawlessness.
Some people do not want to agree with the work the EFCC are doing but
others who see corruption as a bane to development in Nigeria have seen
and will nod that the EFCC is doing pretty job.
The commission has developed and deployed “Eagle Claw”. Eagle’s
claw is a soft that sniffs out all fraudulent e-mails and monitors them
with the option of shutting down such mails. A software that will change
the face of fighting cyber crime ( 419) in Nigeria and the world.. This
means that all 419 e-mails generating from Nigeria will either be
monitored or be shut down.
So far reports by PC world, an international news website about
technology, based in the United states (US) and United Kingdom(UK) stated
that internet scammers are leaving the country and relocating to
neighboring countries in the west African region this has up lifted the
image of Nigeria region.
It is mere greed, loneliness and the desire to make quick money that
push people into this sort of crimes. any way the EFCC has tried so much
and has gone as far as tracking this scammers and are have been able to
recover some of the money from scammers and the monies are paid back to
the victims.
Kudos should be given to EFCC before now it was perceived that 419
originated from Nigeria, there is now a growing perception that those
involved are now relocating to neighboring countries, this I think is a
good development and thus I encourage us all to join in this fight so
Nigeria can regain its good image and grow better for the good of all.
