Dear Sir,

My Sincere Appeal to the Nigeria Media

advertisement

This is an appeal to the entire media. The media has a lot to do in order to reassure the public that it represents the last hope of the common man. Media should never succumb to antics of corrupt politicians; no matter how much it is patronized, because it is looked upon as the common man’s ‘second god’.

Once the media tries to sincerely live above board, there would not be any hiding place again for those persons who are kept in charge of our treasuries, who instead of ensuring safety of such by judiciously applying them for the benefit of the masses, are busy looting them. The daylight, callous lootings take toll on the masses’ wellbeing. Once the media understands that those in power are there for the betterment of the people they suppose to govern, then one sees no reason it should not remain the watchdog of the nation.

Media should shove aside any pecuniary gains but help correct the socio-economic melees facing the common man and which are being created by those who are supposed to oversee the welfare of the citizenry. In recent time some section of the media has continued supporting persons or group of persons who are deep-neck into looting and corruption while deceitfully seen as governing well. Pronounced corrupt practices are always visible but the cover being granted the perpetrators by a section of the media is to speak the least, disappointing. Where then should the masses turn to? A rethink on the part of the media, is solicited. If the faults with our leaders are not pointed out sincerely to them each time, then how do we expect them to correct situations?
