Sir,

PDP & Anti-Party Discplinary Double-Standard

advertisement

Thanks to internet which has made the world a global village. The recent disciplinary measure taken against the PDP Reform Forum comprising of eminent members of that Party smacks of good intentions and could be said to be riddled in double-standard which could be the hallmark of the present ruling Party (PDP) in Nigeria.

There is nowhere in the whole wide world that party members asking for reform within their party are misunderstood as PDP has just done. Many observers saw nothing anti-party about the activities of the Reform group; more so we read that they were not served to appear before any panel set up by the bullish PDP NWC. They further argue that Anambra lost the seat of the governor to a more unstable and less attractive Peter Obi because of anti-party activities carried out by Senator Annie Okonkwo, Governor Godswill Akpabio and Chief Dan Etiebet, but none of them was disciplined or suspended. The reason for the double-standard in this case, as read through the internet, could be traced to pecuniary interest of the head of the NWC (Prince Vincent Ogbulaor) who is said to have received mouth-watering, unperformed rural electrification contract from Akwa Ibom State. Ogbulafor therefore could not muster any courage to single out Senator Annie Okonkwo or Dan Etiebet without anyone questioning ‘Why not also Akpabio?’ Nevertheless, no matter how hard Ogbulafor tries, after the ICPC case, the people of Akwa Ibom (myself inclusive) are already asking that the alleged fund issued for contract not performed must be returned or the job done else the hell, not heaven, will be let loose.
