2011: Falsehoods in Afe Nkuku Annang Threat
I am an Annang man from Abak axis that commands higher number of LGAs; Ikot Ekpene axis compared. It should be noted as nepotism that the President, Afe Nkuku Annang, is from Essien Udim LGA as the governor. So also is the LGA Chairman was made Chairman of Chairmen of Akwa Ibom LGAs.
Suffice it to say that the advertisement by Afe Nkuku Annang titled “Pronouncement by Afe Nkuku Annang on Dr. Udoma Bob Ekarika for False Utterances against the People of Annang Nation” on page 50 of The Nation, Monday 3/5/10, is irrelevant and need be ignored. Why should Bob Ekarika’s at a political rally be a concern to the Afe Nkuku Annang to the extent of trying to put a curse on Ekarika? There was no place in Bob Ekarika’s statement that implied he was speaking for Afe Nkuku Annang. Our traditional rulers should know where to draw the line when it comes to politics.
Another point worthy of correcting, is the falsehood on the achievements of the present government which was said to include “provision of essential educational materials, provision of school blocks; building of hospitals, airport and actualization of the IPP”. In Nigerian Tribune 7/4/10, page 45,the SSA to governor on Education, Etubom Jerry Emah, appealled to school authorities to desist driving pupils from schools for lacking textbooks, uniforms etc. Emah added that “Free education is not equal to the situation where a child does not pay tuition fee”. He promised that the State would move the free tuition to free education. Furthermore, there is no single school block that has been added since 2007 rather only renovation of (some) existed ones. As well no hospital has been built. As for the Independent-Power-Project (IPP) that was commissioned by former President Obasanjo. It was 90% completion before May 2007 and left was the 42km transmission line which till today has not been carried out.
