I may make peace with Ikedi Ohakim when he becomes an ex-convict
INTERVIEW BETWEEN PROFESSOR NATHAN UZOMA PROTUS OF “THE REFORMERS
COLUMN” (DAILY SUN NEWSPAPERS) AND MR. IKENNA SAMUELSON IWUOHA (SOCIAL
AND POLITICAL CRUSADER), HELD ON THE 30TH OF APRIL 2010.
EXCERPTS……………………………..
Question 1: What is your Assessment of the Imo Police?
Thank you. The Imo Police is being managed by a man who doesn’t know
his left from his right. A man who is not serious to combat crime in
the state. Conversely, my assessment of the police in Imo is that it
is made up of officers who are sycophants and bootlickers that are not
ready to fight evil and corruption in the society, damming the
consequences. The police in Imo are nothing to write home about. But
with proper guardians and effective handling, they can come alive.
Question 2: In the matter between you and the Governor, what exact
role did the commissioner of Police play?
Simple. The CP acted as the conveyor belt to the governor. I say this
because it was the commissioner of police who actually told me on
phone to follow those armed men that came to my house. This can be
confirmed from MTN. Also CP Aloysius Okorie is Mr. Ikedi Ohakim’s
errand boy. I say this because when the CP walked into the governor’s
office on that day 21/1/2010, he pleaded with me before the very eyes
of the lady director of SSS, to cooperate with the governor. This same
CP repeated this same statement in his office before the lady director
of SSS. Again, I was illegally detained at the CIB cell by the
Commissioner of Police on the instruction of Mr. Ikedi Ohakim.
Question 3: Did he rebuke Ohakim for beating you?
When the CP walked into the governor’s office on that 21st of January
2010 with the lady director of SSS, he saw me in my own pool of blood
sitting on the rug in the governor’s office. He never rebuked the
governor. Rather he was asking me to just cooperate with Ikedi Ohakim.
But when the governor’s Chief Security Officer brought me to the CP’s
office and left, Aloysius Okorie said to me in the presence of the
lady director of SSS that when I was led out of the governor’s office
that he told Ohakim that he did wrong by personally beating me in his
office. I then told the CP to be ready to repeat the statement when
the time comes.
Question 4: Do you think the CP is Afraid of the Governor?
Normally, any Commissioner of police should be bold enough to do his
job even if it means refusing to do the bidding of a corrupt leader
like that of a governor. But unfortunately the CP is cooperating with
Governor Ikedi Ohakim because of the favours he receives from him
through the Chief of Staff. That is why he is afraid of doing his
professional job as commissioner of police effectively. In Imo State,
we have issues like serious armed robbery and kidnapping including
threats to lives and properties. But the Commissioner is not effective
in this direction. The people of Imo State know who is behind these
activities. Infact I am one of those people who accused the Governor
of being the Master mind of these negatives activities in the state.
But the CP is afraid to takeup the challenge. Ever since Imo People
accused Ohakim of being behind kidnapping activities, kidnapping has
reduced.
Question 5: What is your advice to the Commissioner of Police?
Simple. I want CP Aloysius Okorie to come out and tell Nigerians the
whole truth of what happened between him and me on the 19th of January
2010 by 3:34pm, on the 20th of January 2010 by 5:30pm, and on the 21st
of January 2010 by 6:34am. The MTN is there to confirm what happened.
He should tell Nigerians what he saw in the office of the Governor on
that 21st of January 2010. Let him say the truth because I am
seriously plotting to deal with him using my vast network. Only the
truth will save him from what I will do to him.
Question 6: The Commissioner of Police told me that he has no problem
with you. So why are you fighting him?
If he has no problem with me then let him speak out publicly. Let him
say the truth. If he doesn’t want to have problems with me, then let
him tell Nigerians the undiluted truth of what happened. When I say
that I will deal with him, I mean that I will deal with him using my
contacts and vast network. He asked me to follow those armed men. I
warned him that should anything happen to me, he would be in trouble.
I will go to any length to get justice. That I will deal with Ikedi
Ohakim is an understatement. I will crush and bury Ohakim.
Question 7: Do you want CP Aloysius Okorie out of Imo State?
Let him tell Nigerians the truth of what happened in the governor’s
office. I have written to the Acting President, Police Service
Commission, Human Right groups and so many Organizations both in
Nigeria and outside Nigeria. I am aware that the CP has made
confessional statement at the Force Headquarters Abuja. Let the
statement be made public so that Nigerians will know the truth. I will
go to any length to deal with Ikedi Ohakim. And if in the process of
dealing with Ohakim, the Commissioner of Police loses his job and is
prosecuted, I don’t mind. Let him speak out. I warned him in the
beginning.
Question 8: As the Commissioner of Police in Imo State, Don’t you
think he should have respect for the Governor? This is the last
question.
The commissioner of Police should have respect for the state governor.
But when the state governor abuses his office by desecrating it like
flogging a citizen of a state in the governor’s office at gun point,
the commissioner of police should disrespect that governor by calling
him to order and of course if possible reporting the State Governor to
higher authorities. But in Imo State, the Commissioner teamed up with
Ohakim to commit crime and evil in the governor’s office.
Question 9: Why do you expect the police Boss to act like an activist?
I have not said that the CP should behave like an activist. But he
should be serious with his job. He should fight crime with every
amount of seriousness. How can he be disturbing and arresting minor
pick pockets, hand set snatchers and other petty thieves when a major
rogue like Governor Ikedi Ohakim and his criminal gang are
intentionally allowed to roam about in the state looting the resources
of Imo people? The commissioner of police should be active. He doesn’t
have to be an activist.
Question 10: Please, one more question. I hear Governor Ikedi Ohakim
is making moves to make peace with you. He has reportedly sent many
people to you, especially your traditional ruler, the Eshi of Nkwerre.
So why won’t you make peace with the Governor?
Ikedi Ohakim’s case with me is in the court of law. The matter is
before Nigerians especially the Acting President and all the security
agencies. The truth must be established. This is from the legal angle.
From the political angle, I am already in the battle ring waiting for
Ohakim. When a man cooks for the people, the food will finish. But
when the people cooks for the same man, the food will remain
unfinished. This is exactly what has happened to Ikedi Ohakim. The PDP
will not make the mistake they made in Anambra State. The consequences
are very obvious. Ohakim will go to jail for looting the resources of
the state. So to answer your question, I may make peace with Ikedi
Ohakim when he becomes an ex-convict. Thank you.
