Sir,

PDP: Iwuanyanwu's inconsequntial contributions

It looks like a former presidential aspirant of PDP and publisher of Champion newspapers, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, always stays on the wrong divide. The Imo Chief had in the Daily Trust of 26 th April, told Ogbulafor not to resign. He also berated the Nnamani/Masari group for ever contemplating any reforms in the party insisting that Igbo leaders would not support any other Igbo man that would take Ogbulafor’s place. To many Igbo leaders, this could be a tall dream.

He insinuated that Igbos are their own enemy, citing that when the seat of Senate President was zoned to Igbo tribe, it changed hands many times – Enwerem, Okadigbo, Nwabara and Anyim – and compared the situation now that it had remained unchallenged and unchanged when the North Central zone is in control. Chief Iwuanyanwu has a point there but may I remind him that he and others, including Governor Ohakim, went last year to the ailing President Yar’Adua with a shopping list which included that then Commerce Minister Achike Udenwa should be removed from office.

The problem with Iwuanyanwu is that he probably talks before thinking. One remembers vividly when in 2006 he opened his mouth to say that then Rivers State Governor Odili was better than Akwa Ibom Governor Attah, for the position of President. When he realized his folly he made a detour, denying ever meaning so. Iwuanyanwu, as a member, is said most times, brought unworthy motions at the floor of PDP Board of Trustees meetings.

Now that he is not in agreement with the PDP Reform Group, he is calling for their heads and this has earned him a bad name as some PDP members has tagged him an expired politician who still wants to remain relevant”.
